The Definition of High School

"Your first assignment of the year is to write a page, I know, since summer has just ended it will only have to be a page. For those of you over-achievers, writing more than a page will not give you extra credit, or an advantage in my class." The teacher walked behind his wooden desk laiden with things you would see in a crappy high school movie and took a swig from a small bottle hidden inside his tacky, might-have-been-cool-in-the-80's jacket.
I pulled out a brand-new peice of college ruled lined paper, from my brand-new three inch three ringed binder and held my brand-new yellow number two pencil hovering over the first line.
The only good thing about a new school year at a new school is that if your lucky,
1.You can start over.
2.You get new stuff.
But so far niether of those have been able to lighten my mood since I got to this place.

In a Blue Sunset part 6:: The ball

Eban stood on the other side of the ballroom doors as he waited to make his entrance.
Trumpets sounded on the other side, and the carved doors that hid his presence were opened. A hush went through the crowd as they saw him. He stepped forward and a pathway was made for him leading to the other end of the room where the king and queen sat on the royal thrones. There were two other thrones next to them; Eban walked forward and bowed in front of the King.
"Father, I have returned."
The king smiled and stood. "My People of Fang, My son, Prince Eban, has returned!"
A cheer went through the crowd as Eban stood and took his seat next to the Queen. He smiled as he looked over the crowd of adoring girls, but the one he was looking for wasn't there. The smile faltered.
The King did not sit down, instead he announced: "My people! We have a guest here tonight who was the one who helped my son come home!"
Eban sat up a little straighter at these words. There was the sound of swooshing dresses as people looked around to see this person they've never met.
"This person," The King continued, "Is as brave as one of our many soldiers who is out in battle! This person helped my son though being kidnapped and crossing Blood River!"
A few gasps went through the crowd, but Eban only rolled his eyes.
"People of Fang, I present to you, Zayn!"
The trumpets sounded again and the doors opened.
