Chapter 2
When Queen Jade was murdered, all of Fang mourned her death. Bazaars were closed for days in her honor. Although everyone in the Kingdom loved the beautiful and intelligent Queen, her death was forgotten quickly and soon, everyone went on with their lives. All accept one.
Five years after the Queen's death a grown man of 18, the Prince of Fang, Lord of Destruction, with the mighty power of fire; Eban, the Queen's only child still mourns for his mother's death. He does so in secrecy, in the highest floor of the highest tower in which no one has ever found.
Since the Queen died the King of Fang took on a new wife named Pandora. A vain woman in her late 40's who could care less about anyone except herself and her Persian cat. Where ever she goes four servants would always be following behind her carrying fans and cringing when ever she'd look at them.
"How can you be Prince with fighting skills like that?!" The blond sword man, Ince, Prince Eban's third cousin huffed at Eban while they fenced. The "Good question," The red headed sword man, Eban huffed back. "You should take it up with my father." Ince attacked, but the Prince swiftly blocked it with a Perry, a small hand movement. Eban returned the attack, swiftly keeping his balance on his feet. Ince was too slow to react as he swung his foil wildly trying to block again. As he started to fall backwards he grabbed the closets thing in reach, Eban. Pretty soon the two were rolling on the ground trying to pin the other down for three seconds. After a few minutes of hazardous wrestling; Eban was on top and by the count of three, he won.
Jumping up excitedly he ran to the heavy mahogany doors that you have to push hard on to open. Bracing himself to open them Eban ran smack into them only to fall to the ground with a thud. As he picked himself up and ran out he could hear ince's barking laughter from behind him. He couldn't care right now, for the first time in four years he'd beaten Ince, the best Fencer in Fang, and he was going to tell his father personally.
He took the stairs two at a time and slid down the hallways, watching portraits of his ancestors zoom by as he went flying towards the library doors. By the time Eban got there he could hear Pandor talking to his father.
"He was supposed to be married two years ago!" Pandora yelled from a corner of the library. "Yes but two years ago the only surviving Princess of Dox was still too young and Juniper's daughter ran off eight years ago and could be dead for all we know!" Eban's father, King Jacob argued back. "Well she's old enough now!" Pandora said back, with annoyance in her voice. "But Eban was promised to be wed to Juniper's daughter Zayn! Not Dox's daughter Acantha! The King said. "Well if Eban Married Acantha you could get a treaty with Dox and stop this stupid war with them!" She said back. "But… I... He..." The King stuttered back. Although Eban couldn't see them he knew what was going on. Pandora was overpowering King Jacob by staring him right in the eyes controlled his thoughts.
Although Eban's father is a great man who can rule with an iron fist, he always had a soft spot for women. When ever he looks into the eyes of one he'll go head over heels and do what ever they ask him to. Although Pandora is now what many would call beautiful with a beaked hawk-like nose, graying black hair and sharp features; yet her tigress green eyes can hypnotize anyone who looks into them.
"E-Eban will marry Acantha in one year and seven days." The king studdered. Pandora had him wrapped around his fingure and with a single look he would do what ever she wanted.
Eban looked away from the door. Discust written all over his face.
As everyone in Fang knew, Eban was one of the few people in Sandstorm's history who was born with the power of Fire. Mastering the power at 13 9after many explosions on the practice grounds) Eban was given the title "Lord of Fire". Now at age 18, the Prince walked away from the library doors; setting droopy plants on fire in the process.
